Often times I’ll buy a book based on its cover and this one is no exception. I love the typography, the use of star and crystal elements – a combination I never seem to tire of. Vintage books are probably more interesting cover-wise than most modern book covers these days, at least to me.
I believe RA Bonewitz has a science background but also had a spiritual experience of some sort and so he blends geology and metaphysical stuff into this book. Included are technical illustrations of the atomic structure of minerals as well as different shapes and sizes of them.
I’ve not finished the book but have jumped around mostly, I confess that I have a hard time finishing all sorts of books because I go in and out of being interested.
Nonetheless, this is a fascinating book to have in your collection if you love and appreciate crystals and minerals both from a geological and metaphysical point of view.
I wasn’t sure where to post this for a few reasons:
This is a crystal shop blog
I actually have a few websites
But at the same time, I wanted to post it here because:
It is about crystals
It’s also about crystal healing, which is tied to the use of crystals and stones
Maybe you want to learn it too and so I figured I would share my learning experience here.😊
I promised myself that I would blog here once a week.
Some of the possible reasons why you’re wanting to learn crystal healing or crystal therapy:
You have a strong desire to know and heal yourself.
You want to expand and deepen your knowledge of crystals and stones.
You want to understand how crystals can actually heal the body.
You want to be in greater service to yourself and others.
I wanted to learn crystal healing for some time now, but didn’t know where to go.
There are a few reputable places to learn online and you’ve probably heard of them – Hibiscus Moon, Love & Light School of Crystal Therapy, Krista Mitchell and more that I can’t think of at the moment.
There’s also a very informative book series on the subject that I think a lot of the online schools I mentioned above use to teach crystal healing to students. I also reference it a lot throughout Metaphysical Vibes shop website, it’s called Crystal Healing Volumes 1-3 by Katrina Raphaell – I’ve added a link to the first book. Katrina really goes in depth with each of her books and I have so much love, gratitude and respect for all the knowledge that she shared.
Ultimately, as much as these online courses offered lots of useful information and flexibility – I just wasn’t sure if I could commit to it fully.
The thing with online courses is (they’re great, don’t get me wrong) – sometimes the information doesn’t stick, at least for me.
Also because it’s so convenient, I mean you’re learning online and from home – distraction and laziness ensues. Go figure!
But if I commit to getting up every weekend; showering, dressing up, driving and attending an actual class, learning from an actual person and partnering up with different people in your class, then the information sinks in a lot more.
So I decided it would be best to learn in person and went with the highly venerated Rev. Patricia Bankins who just so happened to be offering her 8 week course on Trans Crystal Therapy. She is the founder and owner of The Crystal Matrix here in Los Angeles, CA.
Update 6/12/18: I completed the 8 week course and my final on June 9th, 2018. I am officially a Certified Trans Crystal Therapist⭐
To tell you the truth, I really don’t know what compelled me to start learning all of this.
The only thing I can really think of is that I needed to heal parts of myself so I can be better qualified to assist others with their own healing, even though I really don’t consider myself a ‘healer’. You can read more about it here on my personal blog.
Also, when I started Metaphysical Vibes – my initial goal was to have an online crystal shop, make money and hopefully quit my fulltime job. Needless to say, the crystals wanted me to experience something beyond those superficial desires.
I have learned so much about the chakras and the corresponding crystals or stones, sensing and feeling the aura, acupuncture points, meridians and so much more. I even witnessed a girl in my class experience an intense emotional release through it.
I’m pretty certain that the crystals lead me to this point so I could be in service to others on a deeper level.
I have so many teachers to thank really, but I will save it for another blog post.💖
In short, if you want to learn crystal healing or crystal therapy, you’ll have to decide how you want to learn. Trust that you’ll pick whatever is right for you.😊
Taking an online course is definitely easier as it gives direct access to those who may not have access to these courses in their local area.
But if you would rather learn in person like I did, then start searching for a local teacher. You can also read books on the subject, and you can also ask someone who is a crystal healer or crystal therapist how they learned.
How can we call ourselves “limitless” and “infinite”…if we are stuck in these very limiting and finite human bodies?
I’m writing this post because for a long time, I just didn’t get it.
Hearing spiritual people say things like “we are one” or “we are connected” often left me dumbfounded.
Hearing spiritual people say “you are an infinite and limitless being” confused me even more.
First off what does it all mean…and why do these people talk like that?
So yes, once upon a time I was new and didn’t understand those sayings. They all either sounded like riddles to me or a lot of abstract thinking that I just could not grasp. And rightfully so; I can look back now and say that certain information was presented to me only when my mind was ready to know and receive more.
As of late though, my mind has been taking a back seat. The overuse of logical and analytical thinking can kill the trip we’re on. Use your intution instead.😊
So again, what does this have to do with crystals? Why do I keep writing about this stuff?
Because eventually you will realize that everything IS connected.
Crystals and stones lead to an awareness.
Awareness leads to conscious breathing.
Breathing leads to meditation, meditation leads to a still mind.
A still mind discovers that it is one with the Divine.
The Divine is also us. We are the universe experiencing itself.
Therefore, we are infinite beings…
we are connected, we are One.✨
It’s complex yet simple at the same time. Our existence is truly a paradox.
How am I so sure of this now?
I really don’t know to tell you the truth, but I’m learning to listen to the inner voice within me. I’m learning to listen to my body and my feelings. I’m learning to listen to the subtleties of energy. Know that you are capable of learning this too.
Surely if none of this stuff resonated with me, I would start to feel fear, confusion and doubt. Something would definitely feel ‘off’ and I would be resistant to receiving such information.
But that has not been the case with me at all as I have continuously over the years been drawn closer and closer to this kind of stuff. And if you’re reading this, then you are too.😊
So what’s next? Where do I go from here? Should I follow you?
Don’t follow me, rather follow whatever it is you’re into. Trust that whatever resonates with you is your truth, trust that whatever you’re into – your hobbies and interests that you don’t make any money off of but enjoy doing anyway – are leading you to your True Self, the real you.
1. direct perception of truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension.
2. a fact, truth, etc., perceived in this way.
3. a keen and quick insight.
4. the quality or ability of having such direct perception or quick insight.
What does the word ‘intution’ have to do with crystals?
A WHOLE lot, actually…more like EVERYTHING.
You see, people (myself included) are on the internet searching for something – they’re searching for answers to their questions like:
How do I cleanse, clear and charge my crystals
Which crystal should I buy
Which crystal or stone will takeaway my anxiety, depression, etc.
and so on and so on
It’s okay to search for answers to questions (I do it all the time), read books or follow your favorite thought leaders on social media, but at some point you also have to learn to trust your own feelings. Listen to your inner voice.
Why is it important to trust your feelings? Because feelings express YOUR truth.
Have you ever felt weird about something or someone but ignored it anyway and then something involving that same exact person or situation went completely wrong because you didn’t trust your initial feelings of weirdness?
Have you ever listened to music or saw something that just made you feel good?
I’m writing this blog post right now and it may or may not resonate with you. You may not agree with what I’m writing here and that’s okay!
It’s also important to trust your own inner compass because there’s lots of false gurus out there.
There’s also a lot of recycled, hackneyed quotes regarding crystals, entrepreneurship, self-help, spirituality and literally every topic imaginable.
There’s a lot of everything and it can easily get overwhelming.
So it is the exact same way with crystals and stones – there’s A LOT to choose from and it can start to feel overwhelming.
But the best part of choosing crystals?
Not all of them are going to vibe with you, not all of them are going to scream “pick me, pick me!” all at once.
Each crystal and stone is unique and one of a kind, no two are alike. It will be a completely subjective and personal experience and I guarantee you will be delighted.
If a crystal is calling you, you probably won’t be able to leave the store without buying it. Or maybe you left and you’re still thinking about that particular crystal. Safe to say that it was probably meant for you.
Whether you like shopping online or going to your local metaphysical store, go and have fun searching for that crystal or stone that’s calling you!😊
So I had originally used the word ‘subjective’ for this blog post before switching it to ‘intution’. This one works too if you’re not quite sure how intuition is supposed to work when choosing crystals:
1. existing in the mind; belonging to the thinking subject rather than to the object of thought (opposed to objective).
2. pertaining to or characteristic of an individual; personal; individual:
a subjective evaluation.
3. placing excessive emphasis on one’s own moods, attitudes, opinions, etc.; unduly egocentric.
4. Philosophy. relating to or of the nature of an object as it is known in the mind as distinct from a thing in itself.
5. relating to properties or specific conditions of the mind as distinguished from general or universal experience.
You don’t always have to rely on internet search to find the perfect crystal or stone for you.
Trust yourself to make that decision, trust your intution.
I’ve been seeing the phrase “heaven on earth” a lot more lately; I didn’t know what it fully meant until I started delving into meditation and working with crystals.
When I think of heaven, I immediately think of how the movies portray heaven to be like: white clouds, a golden gate, everyone is wearing white…
Sounds kinda boring actually.
But how many of us really know what heaven is supposed to look like anyway? So in the meantime, let’s imagine the next best thing…
heaven on earth
To me, heaven on earth means to be present. To live in this now moment and appreciate it to the fullest. Once we decide to be present, we start to notice little things that perhaps we’ve never really noticed before and it takes on an extra, almost unexplainable dimension. It becomes magical.
Depending on how you perceive life, this can be easy or difficult.
Here are some simple suggestions on ways to experience heaven on earth, I believe that each of us is probably already doing this one way or another – the only difference is that you are fully aware & conscious of doing these things:
Waking up, paying attention to your breath and saying ‘thank you’. How often do we really pay attention to the simple act of breathing? If we didn’t breathe, we wouldn’t be alive.
Wake up early and witness the sun rising, or go to the beach and witness the sun setting and see how amazing the sky looks during. The colors of the sky are simply breathtaking during those two daily, natural events.
Hanging out with crystals; I find that by going to a local metaphysical store that has lots of beautiful crystals can literally feel like heaven on earth! It’s hard to be in a bad mood when you’re surrounded by crystals.
Find enjoyment and pleasure in whatever you are doing – especially the mundane, day-to-day stuff; whether you’re driving, washing dishes or working at your computer.
Surround yourself with the things that you love and find to be beautiful. My home is filled with art, books, crystals and stones. A vase full of flowers.
Looking up at the night sky and appreciating the moon and the stars.
Meditating in silence.
Learning something new.
Listening to your favorite song.
Actively thinking positive thoughts and looking for ways to feel good without the need to use drugs.
The list can go on and on, really.
What are some of the ways you have personally experienced heaven on earth?
This is a spontaneous blog post that I felt compelled to write today.
As I was taking photos and listing crystals on the website, getting up every so often, doing laundry and giving belly rubs to my cat…my spirits felt high, and I had just made another sale. I felt happy and grateful, to the point where I felt as if I was on cloud 9. My dreams are coming true and I am living my best life. Everything is perfect.
So I just wanted to write this today for those who might be wondering:
WTF does it really mean to live a high vibe life?
I am writing this from my perspective so it might be a little bit sloppy and imperfect. Bare with me here.
The term “high vibe” is a popular term being used a lot these days, to the point where it’s actually sickening to hear it over and over again (as least for me anyway)! That and “good vibes only”. You see all these happy, good looking, fit people on Instagram posting the most perfect photos of themselves in front of an ocean or something, doing some kind of yoga pose…
I will tell you right now that THAT is not me. I’m pretty sure that if you’re reading this – that’s probably not who you are either.
But that doesn’t mean you’re not living your best and high vibrational life. And no offense to the people who do yoga in front of the ocean, it’s just not my style.😉
What I’m trying to say is that your “high vibe” life may look different to others. Your high vibe life is really based on how you feel, what you think and how you see life. In simple terms: whatever truly makes you happy.
Here are some hints that you are living a high vibe life:
(I want to mention again that these are not absolutes, I am just trying to write more from my own point of view)
+ You feel and know intuitively that you are balanced in all your bodies: emotional, physical, mental and spiritual. How do you know that you are balanced? It’s not like we can see our auras. But you don’t have to see your aura to know you’re balanced; if you are balanced: you don’t feel like you’re holding onto anything in your bodies, you are in tune with it and know how to release something that doesn’t feel good (like a feeling of tension).
+ You have integrated your shadow self. A lot of people also talk about their shadow a lot these days. Everyone has one. The shadow is the dark aspects of us, the parts of us that we repress and don’t want others to see. If you’re living a high vibe life, you acknowledge that your shadow is a part of you and you don’t try to hide it from others. You are simultaneously dark and light just like the yin & yang symbol.
+ You no longer feel the need to criticize, be overly opinionated or talk shit about others (including yourself). You stay neutral and mind your own business.
+ You actively work towards your goals instead of complaining that you can’t or it’s too hard to certain things.
+ You attract more and more good and positive people and situations to you, and you don’t have to try so hard for it to happen.
+ You wake up with gratitude for all that you already have.
There’s a whole lot more to list but these are just the first few that came to mind.
Living a high vibe life doesn’t necessarily mean everything’s going to be peachy and perfect from here on out. But I can guarantee you that it can get a whole lot easier, and it all starts with us.
So how do I shift in order to experience a high vibe life?
I am going to see Blade Runner 2049 today and will return to add more to this. Or I will write another blog post. We shall see!
Pictured above are crystals from my personal collection: a XL Angel Aura Smokey Quartz, an Angel Aura Skull and a Smoky Amethyst. My high vibe life pretty much looks just like how I described in the first paragraph – surrounded by crystals and stones, being in my house with my cat and husband working on the crystal business. It sounds super simple and probably even boring to some but that to me is my vision of a high vibe life.
This may or may not be an ongoing series at Metaphysical Vibes. I actually wanted to write a lengthy blog post about what crystals can do for you, but it was reaching a point where I was just putting it off and overthinking what I should write about.
So instead, I will write about it and break it down into short posts; basically keeping it simple and writing from a more intuitive place. The thing is, when it comes to writing about crystals is that one topic tends to lead to another – meaning that once you answer one question, another question comes up and so forth and so forth. Learning about the crystal kingdom literally means going down the rabbit hole.🐰🌀
So let’s begin!✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨💎✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
What Can A Crystal Do For You?
One of the things a crystal can do for you is raise your vibration.
Well, what does ‘raising your vibration’ even mean?
It means elevating our mood – our emotions, our feelings, our overall perspective. More specifically, our aura or our personal electromagnetic field which holds information about our mental, spiritual and physical condition. A crystal can act as a teacher or as a mirror or even as a clear channel to access the Divine and bring down those higher vibrations.
What are higher vibrations?
Higher vibrations are the unseen energies that exist above and beyond us but we always have access to; they are much higher and lighter because they aren’t bogged down by the human experience or the third dimension. Cosmic, universal, ascended masters and angelic energies are considered high vibrational, so are Quartz crystals.
I also want to add that a ‘low’ vibration doesn’t necessarily mean bad, just different. Here is a quote from Nikola Tesla that sums it up perfectly:
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”
What does it mean to access the Divine?
The Divine has many names – you might call it God, the Universe, Spirit, Source, etc. You might even be specific and identify with a male or female deity, or recognize the divine through nature and the elements and animals; either way, they are all one and the same.
What does all of this have to do with crystals?
Crystals, with their perfect internal structure can help us open up that channel. And when that channel opens up and we attune ourselves to its subtle energy, our personal vibration begins to elevate to that level. This is when we begin to experience what many in the metaphysical community call as ‘crystal healing’.
Our minds tend to overcomplicate things and we seem to want a more definitive, even logical answer of what crystals can do for us. But for now, I will end this blog post on that note and hope that you will think about it and maybe even try it by holding a crystal for a few minutes.
We love art of all sorts here at Metaphysical Vibes. Check out the digital art of Kamora Jones, who kindly gave us permission to post it on here. I had a hard time picking one to post since I’ve been digging everything that she’s been creating and sharing on her feed but this one is pretty amazing. Follow her on Instagram at @artsoldier77
Mandy GoughLabradorite and Amber are my jam. Labradorite for its mystery. The light, sparkle and some that seems to come from blackest depths. Amber for the sun, the brightness and warmth, the tree blood, full of life and potential…
As for us? It’s really hard to say because we love all the crystals and stones – some you connect with at different times of your life, some you have yet to meet. Red Tiger’s Eye was my favorite for a long time. But lately, for me it’s been Chrysoprase and any kind of Quartz, while my husband really likes Fluorite.
There is something magical and ethereal about crystals. Sometimes I myself don’t quite understand why I like them and have decided to make it my business to sell them. If my future self told me 5 years ago that I would be doing what I do now, I would probably not believe it. Regardless, here are 5 reasons you may be attracted to crystals and stones.
1. You’re seeking or searching for something.
Perhaps you’re looking for answers, you need a life problem solved or you need some kind of healing on a physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level. That’s usually one of the main reasons people start using crystals for metaphysical or spiritual purposes.
2. Your friends won’t stop talking about it.
Maybe you have a friend who’s really into it and they just can’t stop talking about crystals; or you go to their house and see gemstones and rocks lying around. It starts to makes you wonder about them, doesn’t it?
3. You love the colors and shapes of Mother Earth’s creations.
How cool is it that the place we inhabit produces such beautiful, natural works of art? Gemstones have attracted humans for ages, this is nothing new. Look up the ancient history of the Egyptians, Greeks, Chinese, etc.
It’s hard to explain how a crystal or a stone can heal us, but just know that we have a similar makeup to crystals, and vice versa. Look up the term “human crystal”. Go to your local metaphysical store or start hanging around the metaphysical community and you will start to know why those people believe in the power of crystals.
For a more personal experience, try holding a crystal in your hand for a couple of minutes and see if you can feel something.
5. You’re being called to a higher purpose.
Perhaps you are drawn to crystals & stones because there is a higher purpose for you that you have yet to discover; maybe your intuition is calling you to become a healer or some kind of spiritual advisor or counselor. Whatever your calling is, crystals can definitely assist in opening up those channels for you; helping you to find whatever it is you are meant to do.
Here’s the thing though – crystals and stones won’t solve ALL your problems. You will still have to do your part on making things happen, it is your life afterall. Think of crystals as helpers, gentle assistants who will nudge you towards the right direction if that is truly what you desire.
There’s probably more reasons not covered on this list, but 5 was a good start.
