Should We Return the Crystals Back to the Earth?

A lovely medicine woman I follow on Instagram posted something today that struck a chord with me. Here is her post:

Ok… I’ve waited a while to post this but Spirit asks that I not wait any longer. 💛. Disclaimer: I write as a crystal lover like so many of you. I used to collect crystals insatiably. I was aching to re-member. The Kontomble say the new crystal is us returning the crystals to the earth, inside the earth where they be-long. Recently I watched a documentary called “Aluna”. It’s the Kogi people of Colombia’s warning to the world. ❤. There was a part in the documentary that particularly struck me. They were speaking about returning their ancestors’ gold artifacts to the earth, where they be-long. They said, “These objects were left in special places. They are like people. They are part of the thread for us to connect with. They must not be moved. They are buried. Selling this is like selling a person. Stop doing this! It’s like selling a child.” They also said speaking about a particular gold artifact shaped like a macaw, “It’s a macaw. It was found in the place of the macaw. There used to be many macaws. But because of the looting there are almost no macaws now. The birds are disappearing.” In other words, taking that out of the earth has repercussions in the physical world. I write, not as someone who walks a squeaky clean walk. I write as a human being in progress. ❤. However, they burn through me (Spirit) to deliver this message with each post I see baring someone’s latest crystal. They are so beautiful, of course. What would happen though, if we heeded Kontomble’s message about the new crystal being us ritualistically, apologetically, as community re-turning the crystals to the earth where they be-long? So many of us crystal lovers are really sensitive be-ings, I feel. 🙏. #thenewcrystalisusreturningthecrystalstotheearth

At first, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it. I wasn’t upset, but it did make me feel a certain type of way for sure. I dwelled on this on my drive home – as if a small part of me felt bad that I’m somehow contributing? Though I’m not exactly the one mining Mother Earth, I am buying from distributors and selling them and I have my own crystal collection as well.

But then I also started reading the comments and gathering different points of views.

Here’s my take on it:

Each and every one of us is evolving and ascending at different times. Some of us are still getting to know crystals, some are still healing with the crystals’ assistance while others are ready to give them back to the earth so she can also heal.

I came home from work and was still thinking about it so I wrote this blog just to flesh out my own thoughts. I also Googled the title you see in this blog post and found another video that also made me feel better about the whole thing. This lady was talking about it in 2011, which indicates to me that people are and have been returning crystals to the earth, particularly in bodies of water. Thank you Little Grandmother, you can watch her video here.

Also thank you to Liv Wheeler of @kontomble_medicine for getting me to think about this; it definitely reminds me to take a step back from my own (selfish) desires and to remember to include the earth in my prayers.❤

So now if you’re reading this, I pose the question to you: should we return the crystals back to the earth? What are your thoughts?

Captivated by Optical Calcite aka “Iceland Spar”

I really want to blog more for Metaphysical Vibes, but truthfully my knowledge of the crystal kingdom is still quite limited that I don’t have a whole lot to say about it. There’s a lot of information that people can search for on the internet and I don’t want to regurgitate what’s already out there. I would like to be more intuition based but it’s proving to be a challenge to write it out.

On the flipside, I have been posting a lot of crystal videos on our Instagram page, and people seem to be into it.

I had one Optical Calcite aka Iceland Spar (which has sold) that is quite special, it’s very holographic and illusory in that everytime I twirl it in front of a light source I see something different. Like from a few angles it’s full of color and looks quite trippy and dimensional, but as soon as you turn it it disappears. I’m sort of obsessed with it.

To me Optical Calcite reminds us of our three dimensional selves – are we really real? Or are our human identities just some sort of spacesuit? At any given moment, our lives can be cut short and then we disappear, our physical bodies disintegrating back to the earth. The only thing we can hang on to is the experiences we’ve had – the metaphysical feelings of love, joy, pain, sorrow, etc.

What is real is the eternal you, pure consciousness; the one who is the observer of it all.

Do Crystals Really Work?

Most humans are skeptics, I am certainly one of them. Religion and other people’s rules and ideas have been forced unto us for so long that you don’t realize you have built up a wall; a wall that is programmed to only believe in what’s been taught, what supposedly is real.

So the question I often see come up is: do crystals really work?

My answer to this is: it all depends on your personal beliefs. Do YOU believe that crystals work? Sure I could regurgitate internet & book based facts about quartz crystals being piezoelectric and pyroelectric; being used in watches, computers and other technologies. I could tell you “sure, they work!” But would you believe me?

Because it’s not scientifically proven that crystals work, most online articles refer to it as the placebo effect. Yet a lot of people are really into it right now and have been into it in the past, why?

I am not here to convince you that crystals work somehow, I think anyone who is curious enough should do an experiment for themselves. Life is an experiment in itself so there is no right or wrong. Is it so far fetched to think that energy from crystals and stones doesn’t affect us? How about inanimate objects like books or toys, don’t they affect us in some way; doesn’t a toy or a stuffed animal bring instant joy to a child? Don’t books increase our knowledge of a subject or take us into another world? I believe it is the same with crystals, except crystals are as natural as it gets; Mother Earth’s ultimate gift to us.

Even though there are books, tutorials and everyone sharing knowledge about their experience with crystals, you have to learn to trust your own experiences too and know that they are just as valid and real.😊

Sit with a crystal or stone for a few minutes while turning off all distractions and close your eyes while holding the crystal. Relax and breathe deeper to get into that quiet space with the crystal. What do you feel, or sense? It is recommended that you turn off all distractions because you might miss the subtle messages you’ll receive from the crystal. And they are VERY subtle.

Maybe you won’t feel anything at all, or maybe it was just your imagination. Or maybe you can’t even still your mind at this point. Or maybe you will actually feel something.

Whatever you got out of it, trust it. Or try again a few more times. Not everyone connects with a crystal the first time.

For me personally, crystals and stones DO work. Not all of them, but you will attune to the ones that are meant to be with you. You will find yourself attracted to their color and light. It is similar to color therapy; humans are naturally attracted to color and light and it just so happens that crystals and stones emit that frequency.

Remember, there is a consciousness that exists within every crystal and stone; you might not understand it but it exists. Why do people talk to their plants or hug trees or marvel at a gigantic rock? What energy do you pick up from it?🗿

The crystal knows what you need and will assist you in discovering the answers you seek.

Here is a great article that explains it: How Do Crystals Work?

A Variety of Quartz Crystals for Sale

I love crystals. They are beautiful to look at and have changed my life for the better.

There was a time when I was not a stable person, I was easily swept away by my own emotions or I picked up other people’s emotions thinking that they were my own.

I also complained a lot – I was always bored and just didn’t have a great outlook on life. Work always seemed to suck, I always felt stressed out and I hated everyone who was doing better than me.

In other words, I was a hater and a shit talker. I dwelled in negative thinking and operated from a lower vibration and perspective.

This is just a more personal example of what crystals can do for you (you can read Part I and Part II. When I started getting into crystals and stones 5 years ago, I wanted things to change but had no idea how that was going to happen. I brought my little stones to work with me and they sat on my desk, and little did I know that they were already working on me in the most subtle way.

Since we are imperfect, unstable beings and crystals have a stable and perfect structure, having crystals around us can help us to achieve balance and perfection.

We are already perfect beings, perfect from the time we were born. Somewhere along the way, we got bogged down by our human identity, other people’s thoughts, opinions and being a part of society. We basically got programmed and we started to forget that we are and always have been perfect, and we became lost.

My life isn’t perfect, but I can confidently say that I am perfect, whole and complete thanks to crystals. When I say I am perfection, I don’t mean vanity or conceit; I am referring to the idea that we are the creation of the universe and all that God (the universe) has created is already perfect.

Crystals are just one of the many ways that you can achieve equilibrium. Yoga, meditation and having a regular spiritual practice are one of the other ways.

Edit 8/18/17: Except for the deep purple Amethyst on the left, all of these crystals – Selenite towers, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Smoky and a variety of Quartz with Mineral Inclusions – are still available for purchase at Metaphysical Vibes.
