I wanted to add an image that represents Pluto in astrology, but stumbled upon this instead. It’s been buried in my phone since 2019. This is actually The Hierophant card, the 5th card in the Major Arcana of the Tarot but for some reason it reminds me of Pluto, which makes sense…

The Hierophant is associated with society, organized religion and tradition, keeper of sacred knowledge. The way Pluto as The Hierophant is portrayed here, God of the Underworld, the planet in Astrology (the higher octave of Mars) that represents death, destruction, the occult, what’s hidden, desire for obsession and control – fits here.

It’s from a tattoo themed tarot deck I own and the artwork was done by tattoo artist Daniel Albrigo. It’s my favorite card (I love occult imagery).

So Pluto has been coming up a lot for me lately, especially now since we are living in even more unstable times. I see many astrologers, healers and occultists talk about Pluto on social media whether it’s on a personal level or a collective level.

Yes, we’ve been living in unstable times since 2020 and even way before that but it’s just more out in the open now. Because that’s what Pluto does – exposes your true motives whether it’s on a collective or personal level. And because it’s in Aquarius – the zodiac sign associated with technology, the collective and rebellious, out-of-the-box thinking – it is affecting groups of people. It is affecting the USA, France, and other current events where there is pushback against the establishment.

Most people trusted their government, most people thought that because they graduated from college and have a degree that they would be guaranteed a job. That people would be able to get married, buy a house, have children and live the American Dream.

People have also lost their benefits, can’t afford gas, groceries or even healthcare.

We are in an ongoing war with Iran where innocent civilians including children were killed, while Israel continues to destroy Gaza and it’s people.

Pluto is heavy energy, and Pluto can be tied to abuse of power. Pluto can take your psyche to really dark places.

And so here we are, enter Pluto in Aquarius which lasts until 2043.

I even asked Google and it gave me this. I typed it out with my comments in red:

Pluto’s transit into Aquarius in 2024 is expected to have a significant impact on the United States, ushering in a period of cultural change and humanitarian revolution:

Challenges to the status quo
Pluto’s transit into Aquarius is expected to challenge the structures of the elite and the “good for a few” model of capitalism. (Example: billionaires)

Shift to inclusivity
Pluto in Aquarius is expected to shift the focus to building communities that work for everyone, and to dismantle outdated hierarchies. (This is happening now)

New government structures
Pluto in Aquarius could lead to the creation of new government structures (It could be possible)

Social innovation
Pluto in Aquarius could lead to groundbreaking technology and medicine, and social innovation that changes the course of history. (I half agree with this. If anything AI has modified how we work while at the same time a lot of people are losing their jobs)

Activism
Pluto in Aquarius could lead to a period of activism like the world has never seen before.

Pluto’s transit into Aquarius is expected to last until 2043. Pluto’s orbit is 248 years long, which is the same age as the United States, so the last time Pluto was in Aquarius was in the 1700s (Young people are fed up with a broken system – look at what’s happening in France)

Question to ponder: where is Pluto in your personal astrology – your natal placements/aspects or your birthchart, and what is it doing in your life?

For me personally – my Pluto is in Libra in the 8th house. Long term transit: Pluto sextile (a positive aspect) Venus.

What Pluto is doing to you based on where Pluto is in the house of your birthchart:

1st house: Pluto will transform your identity in the course of a lifetime

2nd house: Pluto will transform what you own, your property, your money, your values.

3rd house: Pluto will transform the way you communicate

4th house: Pluto will transform your home or what you call home in the course of a lifetime

5th house: Pluto will transform your way of having fun, romance, creativity

6th house: Pluto will transform your routines

7th house: Pluto will transform your relationships/partnerships of all kinds (personal and business)

8th house: Pluto will transform you through other people’s money, sex, the occult

9th house: Pluto will transform you through travel, long-distance journeys (physically or metaphysically)

10th house: Pluto will transform your career and how you’re seen in public

11th house: Pluto will transform you through friends, groups, social media; your goals and dreams

12th house: Pluto will transform the most hidden parts of you – your dreams, your subconscious. Psychic and spiritual stuff.

Not only that, but depending on what SIGN the house Pluto is in will color your experience.

So if you are new to astrology and you landed here, welcome! It’s going to be a long, rabbit hole of a journey to discovering yourself and you will love it.

Suggested crystals and stones to work with Plutonic energy:

Black Tourmaline
Pluto as psychic armor and boundary. Black Tourmaline absorbs and transmutes heavy, invasive, or obsessive energy so you can do shadow work without being overrun by it. Useful when Pluto contacts bring power struggles, psychic overwhelm, or the need to cut energetic cords.

Here’s a personal example of Black Tourmaline at work:
When you have a family member who verbally abuses you and goes through your personal things – put a Black Tourmaline in your personal space and see what happens. It might not happen right away, but you’ll see a shift in yourself where you’re not giving in as easily. In other words, you’re setting up boundaries and a psychic shield.

Gold Sheen Obsidian
Pluto as mirrored truth with a cutting edge. The golden specks reveals what’s been hidden deep within – your truth, your light; the obsidian base forces you to look. Excellent for seeing your own control patterns, projections, and the places you still grip power.

Garnet
Pluto as life-force and desire reclaimed. Deep red garnet carries regenerative, sexual, and survival energy. It aligns with Pluto’s capacity to revive passion, commitment, and raw vitality after a period of depletion or emotional death.

Obsidian (general / black)
Core Pluto stone. Volcanic glass formed through intense heat and pressure. Reflects the shadow without flinching, cuts through denial, and supports the necessary endings that Pluto demands before anything new can grow.

Smokey Quartz
Pluto as grounded transmutation. Takes fear, anxiety, and heavy emotional residue and slowly composts them. Less dramatic than obsidian; better for integrating Plutonian insights into daily life so the transformation actually sticks.

Selenite
Pluto’s clearing after the descent. High-vibration and purifying, it doesn’t do the shadow work itself but clears the field once the underworld material has been faced. Useful after intense Pluto transits, rituals, or cord-cutting to reset the space.
